Meet our Amazing Staff
Melissa Neff-Poulsen, Owner/Artistic Director & Instructor- 
(Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Combo 5 & 6, Tots, Leaps & Turns and Competition Classes)

Miss Melissa has been surrounded by dance for 27 years by, performing, competing, attending conventions, teaching, choreographing or taking classes. Melissa studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop locally for 17 years. When she went to college at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL she continued to study Ballet and Jazz, she also expanded her dance education to Lyrical and Modern. While attending WIU, Melissa was asked to teach and choreograph for Dana’s Dance and Tumbling Studio in Macomb. Melissa taught Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Competition dance team for two years. As a teacher and choreographer locally and in Macomb, Melissa has received a Top Teacher Award in 2004, two Top Choreography awards in 2005 and another Top Choreography award in 2006. Her choreography for the Express Yourself Competition Team at Expressions  has won many outstanding awards in 2009 and in 2010 including three choreography awards this past season. As a dancer Melissa has received numerous awards from competitions and conventions such as KAR Kid in 2003, Access Broadway Scholarship Winner in 2003, and a Hollywood Vibe Scholarship Winner in 2005. Melissa was also a member of the award winning Bettendorf High School Goldusters for all four years of high school from 1997-2001. She has also choreographed for the Moline High School Contemporaires, St. Annes Cheerleading squad and Augustana Dance Company. Melissa also danced at the CopaCabana Resort in Riveria Maya, Mexico, in 2005, upon request. Melissa graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management in May of 2006 and established Expressions of the Quad Cities Dance Academy in October 2006. In her free time she loves to scrapbook, go bowling, watch movies and spend time with her friends and family. Melissa currently resides in Bettendorf with her husband Kyle where they are enjoying their brand new baby girl, Reagan.

Melissa Sandau, Instructor -
(Hip Hop and Competition Classes)

Melissa began dancing when she was 7 years old at a local studio where she took classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Competition Team. Melissa was a member of the Orion Charger High School Dance/Cheer Team. She also participated in Universal Dance Association (UDA) and Universal Cheer Association (UCA) dance camps and choreographed many of her high school routines from freshman to senior year (2005-2009).  Most of the routines were hip-hop and jazz based dances which enhanced her skills in those areas. Melissa also received the Coach's Award in 2006 for outstanding choreography and her upbeat attitude and was presented the Leadership Award in 2008 for her instructional skills and positive influence on her teammates.  In 2008, she performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York and also received the UDA All-Star Award during camp which offered her a chance to perform in Paris, France but she did not attend.  Melissa graduated from Orion High School in 2009 and is currently attending Black Hawk College and majoring in Business Management.  In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, listening to music, and hanging out with her friends and family. Miss Melissa is very excited to be returning to the studio for her fourth year as an instructor.
